SPRING BREAK....lil' late.

I can't believe I forgot to post this..............

For those of you that know us well, you know that we LOVE to camp at Carlsbad State Beach. We camp there several times a year and had a trip planned during Spring Break.

We were a bit worried about the weather because you just never know here in Southern California……. We weren’t disappointed.

The weather was fantastic. The water was a bit cold though, but the kids didn’t care one bit. When I say kids, I mean Gavin and his pal Jake. You’ll see a lot of Jake in our photos over the next few months. He’s one of Gavin’s best buddies and we’ve recently been told that he and his family will be moving to Northern California by the end of June due to a job change.

Though we are thrilled about this awesome opportunity for them, our hearts are so sad to see them go. They are a good family fit for us, moms, dads and kids all get along famously. We’ve been blessed to share many camping trips, sleepovers and celebrations with them over the past four years. Bitter/sweet but we wish them well and will keep in touch for years to come I’m sure.

See when Kevin gets a hold of the camera, he likes to get right up in your grill. Here I am, larger than life, geesh. I'm glad there was nothing in my teeth.

We were also visited by some other good friends mid way through the week; Sonia, Julio, Alex, Sienna and Sofia. After a great day at the beach we had some wonderful appetizers and wine at sunset followed by dinner and s’mores. Finally, we talked Sonia and Julio into letting Sofia stay with us. The boys were thrilled. If you know Sofia, then you know she is just like “one of the boys”. She can definitely hold her own against these two and they love it.

Of course, there were a few of the usual visitors too.

Amazingly, while we left our “hummy” nest at home, we were welcomed by a nest of doves here. Here’s the daddy dove off to find more twigs for their new home.

And here’s the mommy building their nest.

What a great week, and to think, only five weeks, three days and 6 hours until we go back…. But who’s counting?
