Casa Romantica, San Clemente CA

It was just too pretty of a day not to get out and explore.  We picked up grandma and headed out to this beautiful and historical landmark, Casa Romantica.  This is the original home of Ole Hanson, the founder and father of San Clemente.  To read more about him and the property, click HERE .

The entrance to the Estate starts here with this beautiful fountain and interesting entrance.

Indoors and out, there are amazing tile floors and tile lined stair cases.  But first, a look at the sprawling gardens.

This room is available to rent for weddings etc.... only a mere $5500.00 :-D

Here are a few of the family's artifacts.  They lived a very nice life.  These imports were gorgeous.

This room seats 12 and is available to rent during business hours for just $1200.00 It's the Octagon room and it was empty the day we visited.  see below.

More of the family's collection found in the dining room.  I love this old gal.

Very ornate furniture.  Just beautiful.  The Spanish influence is quite evident.

We were all in love with this old piano.  It was in impeccable condition.  Look at the detail.

These star cut stud backers were on the entire ceiling.  I just couldn't get over all of the fine work and detail in this house.

There was a large display of San Clemente's participation during the war.  Wonderful photos.

The pieces of furniture still in the house were breathtaking.

Here are a few shots of the gorgeous tile throughout the property.

And who wouldn't love to be entertained in this magical outdoor seating area, fire roaring and panoramic ocean views just to the left?

The gallery changes several times a year.  On this day, there was an amazing collection of California landscape on loan from the Och family titled "I love you California"

Then, it was off to Olemendi's for lunch.  We enjoyed the beautiful drive up the coast to Dana Point to get there but boy were we hungry when we arrived.  This place is so fun.  A feast for the belly AND for the eyes.  You can look around for days and never see all of the eclectic decor.

I had a giant veggie burrito.

Kevin almost completed this enormous carnitas burrito

And Grandma managed about 80% of this huge tostada.  Everything was delish!

All in all it was just an amazing day.  We totally loved every minute of it.
