Valentines Day

We invited my mother-in-law over for dinner and a surprise road trip the following day. Gavin and Grandma spent the afternoon playing catch and reading books as well as a few sneak peeks
at the Olympics.

Then it was into the dining room for some comfort food made with lots of love from the heart, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad and a big loaf of fresh French bread.

Here’s a couple of shots of the table.

My mom’s beautiful bud vases with some flowers from my garden.

A little ambience……

OH and double chocolate fudge cake hearts with chocolate lava sauce and strawberry whipped cream. These were more for presentation than anything else.

We put all of our homemade Valentines in this little mailbox on the table but didn’t end up opening them until after dinner.

It was a very nice evening spent with the ones I love.

Then it was off to the Reagan Library for their President’s day celebration.

The Library is located in my old stomping grounds, the beautiful rolling hills of Simi Valley.

There were tons of news crews there reporting on the festivities.

The entire walkway of the courtyard was staged with craft tables for the kids and off to one side in the midst of some hundred-year old oak trees, was a little platform that had all kinds of entertainment throughout the day.

First we saw Mr. Lincoln and he gave quite a detailed biography.

He even played the harmonica for us.

Abigail Adams was on hand to tell some stories.

And George Washington….

Then we enjoyed the beautiful grounds of the library before heading inside to tour the amazing memorabilia and step aboard one of the retired Air Force One.

This is a piece of the Berlin Wall.

Beware of Rattlesnakes. This one’s got to weigh at least 60 pounds!!

Reagan’s F-14

Unfortunately, they don’t allow photography inside the museum section but here are our shots of the motorcade, heli, and Air Force One.

Finally it was back out through the garden, into the courtyard and back to the platform to relax and listen to some AMAZING jazz in the cool breeze of the afternoon.

Every great leader was a once a small boy with big dreams.
