THE KING AND I

What a great evening! My mother in law and I had tickets to see The King and I with the Fullerton Civic Light Opera (thank you Renee). It’s sad to think that the theater as an art is dying. It’s such a great experience with the full orchestra and vocally trained actors.

The evening began with dinner on the patio. It was a really nice day so of course we took advantage of the weather. Eating on the patio has just become a part of our lives ever since we visited Hawaii.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any shots of us all gussied up but we looked HOT…hehe.

Then is was off to the theater. Our seats were great and we got there in plenty of time to get seated and review the program.

As we were sitting there waiting for the show to start, I began bragging about a wonderful friend of mine named Cindy. Anyone who knows Cindy P. knows that she is indeed an amazingly talented woman. At one point she was teaching music, making an instructional video for karate, illustrating a children’s book, painting murals professionally and playing the violin at church and with the Fullerton Civic Light Orchestra as well.

Truth be known, Cindy can play any instrument she picks up, but her mastery over the violin has gained her much notoriety. She also writes beautiful music and wrote an entire orchestra piece …an ENTIRE orchestra piece including the parts for each instrument and she sang the lyrics she wrote as well also with the FCLO.

Anyway, right in the middle of my “Cindy-brag”, the lights dimmed and the orchestra began the prelude, rising up from under the stage.

And there she was, shining brightly, bow flying over the strings with perfection, my pal Cindy. What a nice surprise. I didn’t realize that she was still actively playing other than church. She is now the mommy of 4 beautiful kids. Her oldest Jeannie is a week older than Gavin.

Well, that was the icing on the cake. The play was fabulous, the actors fantastic, the singing amazing and the company superb.

Thanks for inviting me Janice.
