FLASHBACK FRIDAY

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Hawaii 02/06 - We came. We saw. We fell in love

This was our first of three annual trips to The Big Island and the reason for the two trips that followed.

From the moment we stepped off of the plane, we felt at home. The balmy breezes and tropical fragrances have a way of instantly relaxing you, sending the concerns of everyday life far from thought. Seven days suddenly seemed far too short a visit for this beach loving family.

The first two trips were shared with my mother in law. She graciously provided the condo the first year while we provided the transportation, and boy did we travel. We had no idea that this first trip would inspire two more, so we tried to fit in as many sites as we possibly could.

Here’s a glimpse of the many glorious sites we saw on visit #1.

A' Bay in Waikoloa on the Kohala Coast

Thurston's Lava Tube (above).

Laupahoehoe

Place of Refuge

Cove from Alii Drive.

Waikoloa Hilton

Just three years ago.... he's changed so much.
This is the day He lost his first tooth.
Someone, please slow down time.

King "K" the first.

It’s absolutely killing us not to go back this year. We made the decision due to the failing economy and soaring (at the time) gas prices. Now we realize that there are some fantastic deals to be had.

Tourism is no doubt at an all time low and condo owners that live here on the mainland are scrambling to rent their condos dirt cheap to avoid making the payments themselves. What’a ya gonna do? We’re definitely talking about a 2010 return. We’ll keep you posted.

Look for more pics from the 07 and 08 trips on future Flashback Fridays.
